We are thrilled to share with you our log burner, which we had installed in the year 2020. It's a great addition to our lovely cottage, and we are confident that you will love it too! One of the best things about this new log burner is that it is exceptionally easy to light up, so even if you're not accustomed to lighting log burners, you won't face any trouble. Within a few minutes, you will notice the entire cottage warming up, providing you with utmost comfort and relaxation. Additionally, we also had extra insulation installed in the loft during 2020 which will ensure that you won't feel cold, even when the temperature outside drops. Furthermore, we already have central heating in place as another option to keep you and your loved ones warm and cozy. Lastly, we have also installed new windows throughout the cottage in 2020. Rest assured, your comfort and satisfaction are our top priority, and we are excited to welcome you to our newly improved cottage.
2020/2021 Refurbishment
Despite the challenges that came with the global pandemic, we were determined to make the most of the situation and invest in improvements to offer you an even better experience during your stay. We started by identifying areas for enhancement. From there, we embarked on a comprehensive renovation project that involved the installation of new features and amenities to make our holiday cottage more comfortable. For example, you will be delighted to know that we have added a brand new oven to the kitchen, which will make cooking and baking an absolute pleasure. Additionally, we have installed a stunning new log burner in the living room area that will keep you warm and cozy on chilly autumn and winter evenings. We also recognized the importance of having a comfortable and modern bathroom. To that end, we have completely replaced the shower to provide you with the ultimate relaxation experience during your stay. Furthermore, we made sure the bedrooms were up to standard by refreshing the decoration and providing you with lots of new linen to ensure your comfort. And that's not all - we have also upgraded the TV and replaced the windows to enhance the overall aesthetics and energy-efficiency of the holiday cottage. These updates are just a few examples of the hard work and dedication that has gone into making our holiday cottage the best it can be. We hope you will be as excited as we are to experience these improvements for yourself and cannot wait to welcome you ... soon!

We are thrilled to announce that during our extensive refurbishment project in 2020, we made an exciting discovery of one of the original stone walls and beams in the main bedroom of our beautiful holiday cottage. The wall has been carefully restored and newly pointed, enhancing the unique charm of the property. It has now become a fantastic feature in the bedroom, adding even more character to the stunning surroundings.
Additionally, the lounge also boasts an original stone fireplace and structural exposed beams, a testament to the rich history of the holiday cottage and the traditional architecture that the property is built upon. What’s more, the unique exposed beams are showcased throughout all of the rooms upstairs, creating an authentic and rustic feel that will truly transport you back in time. We couldn’t be more pleased to share these exciting new features with our guests, and we’re confident that they will fall in love with the cottage just as we have.

Bakewell Cottage is also known as Chalice Cottage and was named after a chalice which was found close by. The cottage is at least 220 years old, but has everything you need for a holiday. Log burner, wi-fi, and lots of kitchen equipment. Within walking distance you have many pubs & bars, along with lots of shops. You are also close to a number of supermarkets. The Monsall Trail is close by and within easy walking distance via the old Bakewell Railway Station. You can walk to Chatsworth if you are feeling energetic – it is about 10 to 15 minutes drive away by car.
